Seresto collar against ticks, fleas and lice
Seresto collar against ticks, fleas and lice
Seresto
The Bayer Seresto flea collar for dogs is an odorless and waterproof collar that protects against fleas, ticks and lice for up to 8 months.
The collar continuously releases a low dose of the active ingredients imidacloprid and flumethrin. These substances are distributed over the dog's skin and coat. This kills fleas, ticks and lice immediately, acts as a repellent and protects against the development of flea larvae. Seresto also reduces the risk of infection with Leishmania, caused by sand flies.
The low dosage is completely safe for the health of animals and humans. The collar is also designed to prevent suffocation or strangulation. If the pressure is too high, the buckle will come loose or the band will break at the breaking point that is provided as an extra safety feature.
The Seresto collar is suitable for dogs with a flea allergy.
Contents: per piece, 38cm or 70cm long.
Available for dogs up to 8 kilos (<8kg) and for dogs above the 8 kilo (>8kg).

Use a maximum of 1 collar per dog.
Remove the collar from the packaging and place it around the dog's neck. Make sure that two fingers always fit easily between the collar and the neck. If not, loosen the collar a little. NB:
Use the Seresto collar NOT for dogs under 7 to soften .
Use the Seresto collar NOT for dogs that are hypersensitive to imidacloprid, flumethrin or any of the excipients (see composition).
Check your dog regularly for ticks, especially within 48 hours of applying the collar. It is possible that there are already ticks in the coat, which are not killed immediately. Remove visible ticks directly. No remedy can provide 100% protection.
Regularly washing your dog with shampoo can shorten the duration of action against fleas. In this case, use our Dogtools collar, so that the flea collar can be easily removed for washing.
Use during pregnancy and lactation only in consultation with the veterinarian!
Side effects:
Dogs that are not used to wearing a flea collar may scratch where the collar is placed for the first few days. Skin irritations such as itching, redness or hair loss should usually disappear within 1-2 weeks (the collar does not need to be removed).
Check that the collar is not too tight, you should be able to easily fit two flat fingers between the collar and the neck.
If in doubt or if the complaints persist, always contact your vet.

A 38 cm collar (12.5 g) contains 1.25 g imidacloprid and 0.56 g flumethrin as active ingredients.
A 70 cm collar (45 g) contains 4.50 g imidacloprid and 2.03 g flumethrin as active ingredients.

Remark:
At Dogguardian.nl we strive to always give you our honest opinion and share our experiences with you.
During our search for Seresto flea collars we came into contact with the manufacturer Elanco (formerly Bayer). They told us that there are currently many fake Seresto collars in circulation. Counterfeit products that are often offered for a cheap(er) price are a problem because no checks are carried out on them. For example, they can contain too many or too few active ingredients contain substances that may not provide any protection against fleas and ticks at all or may contain too strong a dosage.
This is how you can recognize a real version:
- The print on the lid is of high quality, no blurry text, bad language or typos;
- The Seresto logo is embossed, you can feel this when you run your fingers over it;
- The tin is sealed all around with a plastic band, never with just a round sticker;
- The inside of the lid is colored: orange for cats, blue for small dogs and red for large dogs;
- The Seresto logo is printed all around the side of the lid;
- On the side of the bottom of the tin is an image of the collar, in a clear straight line;
- The lot number and expiration date are clearly visible on the bottom of the tin, always both and not just one or the other;
- The flea collar itself always contains white powder, this is stearic acid and prevents fungi;
- The flea collar is completely odorless;
- The Bayer logo is visible on the flea collar in small letters, as well as the lot number. This must correspond with the lot number on the bottom of the tin.
